REVIVAL: A SOUTHERN GOTHIC GOSPEL CABARET

About Revival

During his final year of undergrad at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, Bobby Britton Jr. made his playwriting debut with an autobiographical juxebox musical about his experience with conversion therapy. After a year of workshops, performances, and a trip the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland, Bobby began working on his second show, "Revival: A Southern Gothic Gospel Cabaret."
In the Fall of 2017, Bobby moved to Boston, MA to get his Masters in Theatre Education as he began to intentionally hone in on the intersection of theatre and religion. Inspired by this new research, Revival made its debut in NYC in April of 2018 at the Break Free Together Gathering. That same weekend, Revival performed on campus at Emerson College featuring John Thiel, Anitra Little, Ben Hunton, and Alex van den Heever.

Revival is a semi-linear musical storytelling adventure about self-discovery, faith, mental health,  the Southern Evangelical Church experience, and the power of music.
